Opened in 2011 on the occasion of the 11th centenary of Normandy, Ornavik is
an historical reconstruction site covering the Norman period from the year 911 with Rollon the Viking, to the year 1066 with William the Conqueror.
At the gates of Caen, the Ornavik historical park reconstructs the Normandy of the 10th and 11th centuries. This site covers 10 hectares on the banks of the Orne canal, with Viking, Carolingian and ducal constructions built according to the techniques and materials of the time under the enlightened guidance of archaeologists.
Discover the history of Normandy through the Carolingian village, the Viking space or the motte castrale. Ornavik offers you the possibility to study history, but above all to live it. As soon as you enter the park, you will be immersed in the midst of craftsmen, warriors, merchants, aristocrats and other natives.
