The Ducal Palace, also known as William the Conqueror's Palace or King's House, was built in the 14th century, probably to accommodate the distinguished guests of the Abbaye aux hommes. This building of an oustanding architectural quality, is the subject of an inscription in the list of historical monuments.

The building is the property of the city of Caen since 1961. It has been fully rehabilitated to accomodate the art's lending library since 2013.

The Duc Rollon's room can be rented for wedding honor wines and receptions for companies. It offers a very beautiful vestige of the original Gothic construction: a series of octagonal columns, aligned on a central axis, supports ogival vaults.
