Grand soir – Frédéric Worms

Philosophical self-portrait
Using a handful of words, Frédéric Worms will sketch a philosophical self-portrait. He will discuss life, care, education, ethics, literature, democracy and justice. He will describe his 'critical vitalism', which guides us through contemporary questions of life and death;
Frédéric Worms is Professor of Contemporary Philosophy at the École Normale Supérieure, where he is currently Director. A specialist in Bergson and the living world in the 20th century, his research focuses on the vital and moral relationships between human beings. He now defends a 'critical vitalism' that guides us in all contemporary questions of life and death. Introducing the philosophy of care to France, he served two terms on the National Consultative Ethics Committee for the Life and Health Sciences. A producer at France Culture, he hosts the programme "Le pourquoi du comment", a podcast with over 32 million listeners, which uses philosophy to help people find their way "through the maze of human life and thought".
The author of numerous books (nearly twenty), Frédéric Worms recently published:
La vie, qu'est-ce que ça change, Labor et Fides, 2024. Le Pourquoi du comment. Philosophie pour mieux vivre, Flammarion / France Culture, 2024, as well as Avec Bergson (PUF 2024) and Revivre (Flammarion 2012, 2016). A new edition of Les Maladies chroniques de la démocratie (DDB 2017, 2022) is forthcoming.
The author of nearly twenty books, Frédéric Worms also writes regular columns for Libération.
