A great symphonic evening of young international talent and orchestral repertoire

The prestigious Philharmonic Society's Orange County Youth Symphony (OCYS) will be performing in Caen for an exceptional concert on Saturday 13 June 2026 at 5pm at the Amphithéâtre Pierre Daure - Université de Caen Normandie (Campus 1).

Made up of some of the most talented young musicians in Southern California, this internationally acclaimed American symphony orchestra will be offering Normandy audiences a great musical evening of emotion, virtuosity and cultural sharing.

The first part will feature young talent from Caen Conservatoire.

The concert opens with the Orchestre Symphonique des Élèves du Conservatoire & Orchestre de Caen, conducted by Christophe Béguin.

The ensemble will perform two major works from the orchestral repertoire:

Circus Polka by Igor Stravinsky
Suite Américaine op.98b by Antonín Dvořák
This first part will showcase the dynamism and richness of the orchestral work carried out at the Conservatoire, in an inspiring musical dialogue with the young American musicians invited.

Conducted by Johannes Müller Stosch, the Philharmonic Society's Orange County Youth Symphony will perform a programme featuring works by :

Tchaikovsky(Scherzo from Symphony 2)
Rimsky-Korsakov(Russian Easter Overture)
Founded in 1970, the OCYS is one of the most prestigious orchestral programmes for young people in the United States, and performs regularly on major international stages.

This exceptional evening promises a powerful musical encounter between young French and American talent, in an atmosphere open to all audiences.
