The Ducal Palace, also called the Palace of William or the King's Logis, was built in the 14th century, probably to accommodate distinguished guests of the Abbaye-aux-Hommes. This building, of exceptional architectural quality, is listed as a historical monument.
The building has been owned by the city of Caen since 1961. It has been completely renovated to house the collections of the artothèque since September 2013.
The Duc-Rollon room can be rented for wedding receptions and corporate receptions. It offers a very beautiful vestige of the original Gothic construction: a series of octagonal columns, aligned on a central axis, support ribbed vaults.
