National Holiday balls and fireworks

To mark the national holiday, the City of Caen is organising a grand ball in Place Courtonne, followed by the traditional fireworks display launched from the castle ramparts.

New for 2026, a programme of music is planned on Place Courtonne, catering for all ages and tastes:

The public dance for young and old alike
Place Courtonne

2.00 pm – 5.00 pm: Guinguette with the association Les p’tits bals
5.45 pm – 7.45 pm: Kids’ ball with Tempo Music Events
8 pm – 10.30 pm: Swing ball with the band Hepcats Five and a dance demonstration by Rock’n Go
11.20 pm – 1 am: After the fireworks, head back to Place Courtonne for a grand ball with the band Tuxedo

Porte Saint-Pierre and Rue de Geôle

Around 11 pm (subject to change): for the second year running, the 14 July fireworks display will be set off from the castle ramparts.
The display area will be expanded to offer the public a better view, so please feel free to spread out along the whole length of Rue de Geôle.
