For several years now, sustainable development has been an integral part of our strategy. It plays a key role within the Tourist Office, but also throughout the entire Caen la Mer destination.

Our CSR strategy and commitments

In 2024, we worked on developing a CSR strategy for the Tourist Office, which will run until 2028.

Internal CSR indicators

1. Environment

  • Number of employees using soft mobility in 2025: 54%
  • Number of employees using soft mobility entirely or partially for their commute in 2025: 75%
  • kWh consumed in 2024: -10% compared to the previous year & -30% compared to 2022
  • Number of brochures collected in 2024: 421
  • Number of prints (black and white and colour) in 2024: -6% compared to the previous year and -13% compared to 2022
    • Number of colour prints in 2024: -13% compared to the previous year & -16% compared to 2022
  • Sorting mailboxes (reducing digital footprint)

2. Social / Societal

  • Number of participants in our OT meetings in 2024: 392 & in 2025: 429
  • Hours of training per employee per year in 2024: 23 hours
  • Implementation of micro-donations at reception

3. Economy / Responsible purchasing / Territory

  • Number of City Passes distributed in 2024: 716 & in 2025: 916
    • Travelling by public transport in 2024: 41% & in 2025: 53%
  • Number of tickets sold with the Low-Carbon Fare in 2024: 43 & in 2025: 129
  • Percentage of French products in shops in 2024: 75%

Green Destinations :silver award

In 2024, Caen la Mer achieved silver level certification from Green Destinations with a success rate of 77%, becoming the third destination in France and Normandy to be recognised for sustainable tourism!

This label, managed by the Tourist Office, encourages our teams to excel on a daily basis to make our organisation a model of sustainable and responsible tourism.
