In partnership with Paris-Match, in tribute to Joséphine Baker, a free and committed woman, the City of Caen presents an original exhibition retracing the artist's life.
Militant, audacious, resistant and mother of a large family, Joséphine Baker is one of the great personalities of the 20th century, both in France and abroad.
This exhibition, presented in the historic setting of the Abbaye-aux-Hommes, allows visitors to (re)discover this woman and her exemplary career, right up to her Pantheonization, thanks to a selection of some thirty photos from the Paris Match archives.
These photos have been specially selected to represent the free and committed life of Joséphine Baker: a daring and talented woman, present right from the second issue of the magazine, published in April 1949.
A number of personal objects and one of her dresses will also be on display.
Exhibition in English and French.
