Discover the world of Normandy wines in a friendly atmosphere with a guided tasting led by Juliette from The Art of Wine Academy. A warm moment to explore the Norman terroir.

A cozy and welcoming setting to host us

For this intimate workshop, meet at an unusual accommodation: WeLiving. This coliving house, in a townhouse from 1851, is located in the heart of Caen, facing the racecourse. You can rent part of the house or the whole property (10 rooms with private bathrooms).

Pauline, the manager of the place, welcomes us into this magnificent home and greets us in the large living room where we settle around the central island.

A winter evening, warm and cosy with friends. All the conditions are in place to fully enjoy this discovery evening!

Presentation of the Tasting Workshop

Juliette, wine coach and host of the evening, introduces us to the flow of this friendly initiation.

First question: does Norman wine really exist? Still little known, the Normandy vineyard has been reborn since the late 1990s, with grape varieties and local productions that are worth discovering.

Four wine bottles are presented to us: two red wines and two white wines, all from the Arpents du Soleil estate in the Pays d’Auge.

Juliette has also prepared gourmet boards made up of delicious Norman products: cheeses, andouille sausage, cold cuts, vegetables and bread.

Before starting the tasting, the host gives us some tips and tricks on how to buy, store and serve the precious beverage. How can you tell the difference between wines just by looking at the label or the cork? Should you decant wine or not? How should you hold your glass? Juliette patiently answers all our questions: grape varieties, production techniques, food and wine pairings…

The secrets of tasting

We listen carefully to her valuable advice. Then it’s time to taste and play with the senses:

• Hearing with the sound of wine being poured into the glass
• Touch with the temperature of the glass
• Sight with the wine’s appearance and colour
• Smell with the dominant aromas
• Taste with the first sensations on the palate

Citrus, woody, fruity… We all have different sensations in the mouth and that’s normal!

After getting familiar with the white wine, we move to the dining room to try the red wine. Around the table, discussions continue to flow about this Norman product, always with friendliness.
