Among the 2,183 soldiers who are buried in this cemetery are 1,623 British, 3 Canadians and 1 Australian, but also 556 Germans. These men died during the bloody combats to the west of Caen during Operation Epsom in June and July 1944: the battle of Tillysur-Seulles, the battle of the Odon and the capture of Carpiquet.
