The abbey was founded in the 12th century. It is listed as a Historic Monument and has been given the prestigious "Centre Culturel de Rencontres" label. It houses the collections and activities of the IMEC (Institut Mémoires de l'Edition Contemporaine). The large abbey library provides researchers a peace environment, while the farmyard, gardens, tithe barn and press are the venue for events, symposia, exhibitions and research and writing residences.

Les jardins et les extérieurs de l'abbaye sont accessibles du mardi au vendredi de 14h à 18h. Les expositions sont ouvertes du mercredi au dimanche de 14h à 18h. La bibliothèque reste quant à elle accessible du mardi au jeudi de 9h30 à 18h, et le vendredi de 9h à 17h.
