Although the Côte de Nacre has attracted fewer famous artists than its neighbor, the Côte Fleurie, Louis Valtat and Stanislas Lepine have set down their easels here, and many regional and Parisian artists, vacationing on this stretch of coast between Ouistreham Riva-Bella and Courseulles sur Mer, have left us works of absolute charm. Victor Tesnière and Eduardo-Leon Garrido are among them.
How did artists of the late 19th century and today seize on the landscapes of the Côte de Nacre? How did it inspire them? The exhibition is organized chronologically and thematically, taking us first to the heart of the 19th century, then to the world of fishing and harbors, then to the seaside activities of beach sports and bathing, and finally to the period of the Second World War and the present day.
