From June 6 to 8, 2024, the L-Birds back to Normandy association is organizing a gathering of liaison aircraft, known as L-Birds (L for Liaison).
This 2024 operation benefits from the experience of previous years, both in terms of organization and operations.
Some forty liaison aircraft, all authentic and in their historic 1939-45 colors, will fly to Normandy from several French regions and European countries.
June 6: Aircraft gather at Saint-André-de-l'Eure airfield, formerly a Luftwaffe base, then a British base.
June 7 and 8: Commemorative flights from Caen airport, along the D-Day landing beaches.
Static exhibition in Caen on June 7 and 8, currently under feasibility study (until February 8, 2024).
June 9: Departure of last aircraft.
