Concert de la maîtrise de la cathédrale de Chartres

As part of a major weekend in Normandy, the Chartres Cathedral choir will give a concert on Saturday May 4 at 6pm, at the Abbaye aux Hommes in Caen, and on Sunday May 5 at 4pm, in the church at Bretteville-sur-Laize. On the program: performances of English sacred choral music from the Renaissance to the 20th century, from William Byrd to John Rutter and Henry Purcell. On Sunday morning, May 5, the Chartres choir will lead the 9:30 a.m. mass in Cabourg?s Notre-Dame des Fleurs church.
The Chartres Cathedral choir has a 800-year history. It has survived the centuries in a variety of forms, and still carries on the tradition of sacred chant today. It comprises some forty choristers of all ages. Directed by Pauline Bonneau-Pfeiffer, the choir performs at Masses in Chartres Cathedral, particularly during the major ceremonies celebrated in this major site of Marian worship.
The choir also performs in concerts in France and abroad. In recent years, it has sung in Rome, Mont-Saint-Michel, the collegiate church of Guérande, the cathedrals of Orléans and Bayeux, various Parisian churches including Saint Séverin, as well as churches in the Chartres diocese. In June 2019, she recorded her first album devoted to Vivaldi's Gloria.
