This is one of a series of ten Signal monuments, the model for which was created after the war by Yves-Marie Froidevaux, chief architect of the Monuments Historiques. They take the form of a ship?s smokestack, with inscriptions on the front. The back forms a hollowed-out wave, representing "the momentum of the sea towards the land". The stele originally stood on the beach, but was moved when the ferry terminal was built. 5:30pm: Ceremony at the "13th/18th Royal Hussars" stele, at the St-Aubin d?Arquenay traffic circle, in honor of the British tank regiments killed in action on June 6, 1944.
