Carte blanche à Antoine Cardi | Le Château en chantier

As part of the Château en chantier project, the City of Caen gave photographer Antoine Cardi carte blanche to capture the Château's construction site in images.
Through twelve large-format shots, the artist plays on the contrast between the permanence of the historic heritage and the moving, chaotic space produced by the works.
Antoine Cardi trained as a historian. After several years devoted to teaching and research, he turned professional in 2008.
His photographic practice, based on a documentary approach, focuses on describing and recording "reality". His work focuses on the temporal dimension of places and their transformation. Through his attention to commonplace, vernacular, everyday elements (spaces, objects, etc.), reflections of an era, a place, the state of a society, he questions our relationship with the past, between history (an objectified past) and memory (a subjectivized past).
