Born in Caen in 1994 and a graduate of ésam Caen-Cherbourg, Louise Aleksiejew is simultaneously developing her practice as a visual artist, theorist and comic strip author. As part of the wider field of contemporary drawing, her work questions systems of representation and their narrative powers.
and their narrative powers.
Multiplying graphic styles, toggling between abstraction and figuration, and responding to the forms and narratives produced by others are the means she uses to investigate the history of stories: what are we representing, and by what means? What is not represented or made invisible, and how is this political? Album, the title of the exhibition, reflects these questions and the ambitions of a protean and committed graphic project, somewhere between a blank page to be written and a collection of gleaned images.
Louise Aleksiejew is represented by Galerie Bernard Jordan, Paris. This exhibition is part of Printemps du Dessin 2026.
