À L’Horizon” residence

Némo Richard-Roussel has set up his studio at L'Artothèque. Come and discover his work! Némo graduated in June 2025 with a DNSEP in art from ESAM Caen/Cherbourg. Using D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself) strategies and techniques inherited from the cultures he grew up with (punk, graffiti, English rave, extreme metal), Némo attempts to transcribe, in a variety of forms and media (drawing, photography, video, text, etc.), the emotions and poetry hidden in his environment, the contrasts created by the insertion of radical cultural elements into the suburban landscapes that make up his daily life. His work is inhabited by spectres. They take the form of anonymous figures, sometimes masked, frozen in waiting postures, displaying subterranean signs of belonging, or abstract, ectoplasmic features that come to parasitise the images, composing a universe somewhere between a tag and a metal logo. These spectres, conceived as visual samples, are a way of evoking his relationship with the cultures he seizes upon, and the logic of quotation and nostalgia to which they are subjected.
