Discover the D-Day landings in a different way.
The only authentic radar site on the D-Day landing beaches, which played a major role in the Second World War, is located in the former German air detection station at Douvres-la-Délivrande.
2 period bunkers, refurbished and buried (including the largest in Calvados, measuring 400m²) give visitors an insight into the Atlantic Wall, the history of radar and the daily lives of German soldiers. The film is based on archives from the Imperial War Museum.
A true symbol of the museum, the Würzburg-Riese (giant) radar, one of which was present on the site in 1944, used its 7.5 m diameter dish to track aircraft up to 80 km away.
A guided tour can be organised on request, at no extra cost to the admission ticket.
