Museum Of Fine Arts

Located in the heart of William the Conqueror's castle, in a modern building, the fine arts museum is specialised in 16th and 18th century European painting and is among the most significant French museum in its field. The museum also features a vast display of art up through the 19ht century. The 18th century is represented by French and Italian portrait and landscape painters while the 19th century revolves around romantic and realist painters, as well as landscape painters from Barbizon and Normandy. Headline exhibition: “L’Expérience Caravage” (The Caravaggio Experience) - until 14 February. “Frits Thalow, paysagiste par nature” - 16 April to 21 September. An exhibition of the works of the landscape artist organised as part of the Normandy Impressionism Festival.
