The demographic and social growth of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries had a significant impact on the changing urban landscape. Members of the bourgeoisie and newly ennobled men worked to beautify the city, commissioning the construction of private mansions in either an Italianate style or a more classical and ‘Baroque’ style. During this tour, we will focus on this new reshaping of Caen, which formed part of a wider national movement.
A tour led by Hélèna Thybert.
