SAM SAUVAGE
A face, a demeanour, a charisma with instant appeal.
A deep voice, delivering a singularity as magnetic as it is confident. A voice that slips into your ears, into intimacy or into the din. Sam Sauvage also has a generous head of tousled hair and some hair-raising ideas.
He has a fluid, uninhibited sense of melody, a raw, sensitive and authentic poetry, a keen sense of observation, and a taste for other people, especially those on the margins, night owls and lost dreamers. It's this openness to people and society that shines through in Les gens qui dansent (j'adore), the first single from an EP due out in the spring.
In it, Sam Sauvage takes stock of different human and behavioural traits, with spoken word that's impassive and catchily nonchalant, robotic swing that clashes with western guitar, and tenderness tinged with an underlying melancholy.
CONTENT FERNAND
Combining punk and French chanson, Fernand, the emblematic singer of this new French rock duo, expresses himself through raw, offbeat lyrics directly inspired by his everyday life. The result is music that's completely loose and naive in appearance.
But it's a deceptive appearance, because the subjects they tackle jostle with sometimes profound reflections on the complexity of human development in this world. Choosing to take recreational paths, they mislead our attention in order to get across messages that are not necessarily so.
Content Fernand proclaim themselves to be the avant-garde of a pop movement that has thrown off all constraints of musical style and dress, letting itself go wherever it pleases.
