Performance: “Dreaming Amid the Climate Emergency”

What becomes of our imaginations, our emotions and our inner lives when the climate emergency looms as a constant presence on the horizon? To answer this question, Sarah Calcine is setting out to collect your dreams, making the area around Hérouville Saint-Clair the focus of a research project at the crossroads of the performing arts and the social sciences. Accompanied by geographer Florian Opillard and a group of actors, she sets out to meet local residents to absorb your stories and build up a sensitive collection of what preoccupies your unconscious and your thoughts. Straddling the line between the personal and the collective, between seriousness and fantasy, she is devising an inclusive and interconnected performance, born of her local immersion and a pressing environmental context. A theatrical ritual in touch with reality, designed to explore the ecological crisis in a different and concrete way.
“Dreaming Amid the Climate Emergency” is a multi-site project on a European scale, co-funded by IRMAS and La Manufacture – Haute école des arts de la scène – HES-SO Lausanne. A survey will also be carried out this season in Switzerland, in partnership with the Théâtre du Loup.
A production created as part of OUEST, the Normandy International Centre for Production and Distribution.
