Opening of Roya Rassuli exhibition at MoHo

The MoHo is delighted to host the opening of an exhibition by Roya Rassuli, a young Afghan artist based near Caen.

The opening will be an opportunity to discover Roya Rassuli's exhibition, and also to hear what she has to say in an interview about her career and the way in which exile and her personal history have profoundly shaped her artistic work.

Born in Iran into an Afghan family, Roya Rassuli fled Iran at the age of 12 with her family, crossing Turkey and Greece before arriving in France in 2022, after several years spent in refugee camps.

It was in these places of transit and waiting that painting became an essential part of her life. Initially a refuge, art gradually became a language for expressing the exile, memory, identity and rights of Afghan women.

Through her work, Roya Rassuli presents a different image of Afghanistan: one of a rich, vibrant and deeply human culture, far removed from the simplistic images often associated with the country.

This exhibition presents a body of work profoundly marked by resilience, in which each painting bears the trace of an extraordinary life journey.
