Meet the authors of the comic strip "Marc Bloch L'historien combattant" With Suzette Bloch, Jean-David Morvan and Laurent Bidot - mediated by Jean-Marc Cimino.
"Marc Bloch was my grandfather. An exceptional man, a scholar, a republican and a staunch patriot whose commitment to fighting Nazism cost him his life.
A major historian of the 20th century, he revolutionised history by opening it up to the social sciences, breaking down the barriers between disciplines and putting an end to purely chronological accounts. In 1929, together with Lucien Febvre, he founded the journal Annales, which is still going strong today.
A soldier in both wars, a hero of the Resistance, persecuted by the anti-Jewish laws, arrested in Lyon, imprisoned and tortured in Montluc prison, he was executed by the Gestapo on 16 June 1944, along with 29 of his comrades."
- Suzette Bloch
The talk will be given by Jean-Marc Cimino, a specialist in comic strips and Vice-President of Radio Tou'Caen.
