Come and meet editor Manuel Embalse and Nadia Tahir from the University of Caen.
The documentary Derrière les drapeaux, le soleil (Behind the Flags, the Sun), directed by Juanjo Pereira, offers a gripping insight into Paraguay's recent history. Using 120 hours of archive footage collected from the four corners of the world, the filmmaker reconstructs the 35-year dictatorship of Alfredo Stroessner, one of the longest-lasting authoritarian regimes of the 20th century.
A Paraguayan, Argentinian and French co-production, the film (2026 - 1:31) is supported by the Groupement National des Cinémas de Recherche (GNCR).
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the film's editor, Manuel Embalse, in the presence of Nadia Tahir, lecturer at the University of Caen.
