The winter of 1925-1926 had a profound effect on the urban area of Caen: heavy and persistent rainfall led to exceptional flooding of the Orne, causing extensive inundation and lasting disruption to daily life.
A century later, the "100 years of the great Orne flood" exhibition looks back at this momentous event. Through archive documents, press articles and scientific data, the exhibition illustrates the power of water and the ability of local people to organize themselves in the face of the event.
The exhibition was designed by Caen la mer as part of the Flood Prevention Action Program (PAPI) for the lower Orne and Dives valleys.
The exhibition is open at the Pavillon in Caen from Wednesday to Sunday (and public holidays), from 1pm to 7pm.
Free admission.
