Concert Musique Francaise

Two young musicians, violinist Manëlle D'Oliveira and pianist Maréva Bécu, will take you back to Paris at the very end of the 19th century. While Van Gogh was painting his Starry Night, the Lumière brothers were filming the arrival of a train at La Ciotat station, and Zola was preparing to write J'accuse, Paris was teeming with worn-out workers who crossed paths with an elite bourgeoisie whose wives patronised the musicians of the day and invited them to their salons.
The programme includes the Méditation from Massenet's opera Thaïs, a masterpiece of the classical music repertoire that is not to be missed.
