On the programme over these two days:
- GLADIATORS
"gladiatorial combats"
Saturday and Sunday at 10.00, 14.30 and 17.00
Marvel at the great gladiatorial duels!
A chance to see the equipment and fighting techniques, and to understand the rules of combat.
“Gladiator School”
for children aged 6 and over
Saturday and Sunday at 10.00 am, 3.15 pm and 5.45 pm
Step inside the ludus, the gladiator school, and take part in the training!
- CHARIOT RACES
Races for children aged 4 to 10
Demonstrations at 11.00, 13.00 and 15.30
Discover the famous circus games and the Romans’ favourite sport: chariot racing.
Set against a backdrop of a reconstructed Roman circus and chariot, the history, mythology and symbolism of the great Roman games are explored. Children can then take part in a wild race on balance bikes or scooters!
- THE ROMAN CAMP
“The Roman Civil Camp” (open continuously from 10.00 to 18.00 on both days)

“Tales of Battles”

A soldier recounts his memories of famous battles from the Gallic Wars.
A journey back to 52 BC to the heart of the battles of Gergovia, Avaricum and Alesia.

Discover the military tactics of the Gauls and try your hand at them in complete safety using suitable equipment!
THE ARTISANS’ VILLAGE
Watch Roman artisans at work and try your hand at some of their techniques (the artisans themselves manage bookings for their workshops on site)
Glasswork: demonstration of glass bead-making
Bone carving: make your own hairpin
Metalwork: shape a mould and cast metal to create your own small object
Pottery: an introduction to the potter’s wheel
Mural: take part in creating a collaborative mural
Making pan flutes or zoomorphic whistles: create your own musical instrument
Leatherwork: make your own antique-style leather purse
