The Take It Easy Brass Band is a brand-new brass band led by saxophonist Vincent Leyreloup. The band draws its inspiration directly from New Orleans, its dazzling carnival, its second-line parades, its funk-infused rhythms and its spellbinding brass riffs.
Through original compositions, the band pays a vibrant tribute to this city, which embodies diversity, and to the Afro-Amerindian communities who have infused this cradle of so many musical genres with such vitality, energy and warmth. So the Take It Easy Brass Band steps out of the woodwork and shakes up the genres, brings the house down, and slides across the valves all the way across the Atlantic; it bounces and wiggles, it’s funky and gritty, it swings and chats, it’s Ethiopian, it’s Caribbean, it sways gently… Easy! The Right On Brass Band is a community brass band, open to all and specifically to non-musicians. This initiative is led by Le Tympan, a charity that has been promoting jazz and improvised music in Normandy for 25 years. This unconventional brass band plays a Second Line repertoire – that is to say, New Orleans parade music. This subtle blend of European military marches, traditional African rhythms, rap and funk is characterised by highly festive music that’s perfect for dancing! The Right On Brass Band sets parades, carnivals and celebrations of all kinds alight and adapts to any venue! Come and party with us!
