We are delighted to welcome the H-ékosi Wind Band. Comprising around forty musicians, this exceptional ensemble has a unique identity within our cultural landscape: it brings together the very best professional musicians from the Lower Normandy region and consists exclusively of wind instruments.
Driven by a spirit of sharing, the orchestra also integrates young talent through the H-ékosi Wind Band Academy programme at the Hérouville Conservatoire, offering students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in a top-level ensemble, with a view to inspiring future careers and building a bridge to the professional world. For this special concert, the orchestra has devised a highly ambitious programme, boldly navigating between major original compositions, transcriptions from the great repertoire and collaborations with soloists. The audience will be swept away by the virtuosity of Philip Sparke’s *Dance Movements*, an essential original work for concert band, renowned for its rhythmic energy and shimmering colours. The journey will continue on an emotional note with Luis Serrano Alarcón’s *Concert Tango*. For this masterful piece, the ensemble will accompany the talented soloist Thomas Dhuvettere on the alto saxophone. Finally, the orchestra will display its full expressive range by revisiting masterpieces from the repertoire. From the lively verve and biting irony of Dmitri Shostakovich’s famous Jazz Suites to the rhythmic exoticism of the Dances from Gayaneh, this programme will showcase the dynamism and rich sound of the wind instruments. An exceptional evening, where the passion of seasoned professionals and the enthusiasm of youth come together to celebrate music at its most vibrant.
