Workshop – “Vikingo mondo

Who am I?
Can I play at being whoever I want to be?
Can you say "I'm an American Indian" even if you were born in Fresney-le-Puceux in 2002?
It's great to be in the theatre: you can play at being all sorts of people, putting yourself in someone else's shoes, imagining you're somewhere else, projecting yourself into another time.
Let's say you're from Normandy. You can make an effort of imagination and teleport yourself to Sicily in the eleventh century, where Norman kings settled and made society with Arabs, Jews, Byzantines, apparently different people who learned from each other and mixed their cultures. And who could have been discovered by an American Indian, let's be crazy.
We'll be showcasing this ephemeral experience of multiculturalism, and reflecting on the fact that behind the skin lies the human being. We'll take the opportunity to make fun of ourselves, for example by shouting "Heulà" and "Maybe so, maybe not", or by calling ourselves by the names of those Normans from Sicily, Roger and Robert, or Mahaut de Pouille and Guillaume Bras-de-fer. And we'll also be making fun of fanaticism, communitarianism, fundamentalism and everything that prevents us from living together in peace and joy.
This year, we want to offer a relocated course. We'll be starting in Logre, but we'll be playing in a natural maritime setting.
We haven't found the venue yet, but once we've got our costumes and props sharpened up, we'll be declaiming our scenes and poems to the seagulls and barnacles.
