Workshop: “What if we learned to live in a biosphere?

Free, registration required. An experiment to transform your flat and make it 10 times more energy-efficient!

How can we live sustainably in a dense urban environment?

That's the question addressed by the Urban Biosphere project, a 9-month experiment in a poorly insulated flat in the Paris region. Drawing on a host of self-sufficiency inventions tested in a hostile environment, the experiment is designing a flat of the future in which living things play a key role: biopony, mushrooms, living toilets, composting, etc. Other tricks are used to drastically save water and energy: the cooker of the future, misting shower, self-consumption of electricity, SlowHeat heating, etc.

The result? A lifestyle that's more sensible, more controlled and, above all, 10 times more water and energy efficient! The programme has also been the subject of a sociological study to gauge acceptance, medical and nutritional monitoring and a series of challenges to help you rebuild the biosphere in your own home.

The evening will be hosted by the programme coordinator, who is in charge of the participatory science aspect of adopting the Biosphère at home. An inspiring discussion on a futuristic way of life, convivial exchanges to test it out together and a truly offbeat flat. Bonus: an aperitif made with crickets!
