Learn to identify the wild plants that live on Caen's peninsula!
Cities concentrate a growing proportion of the population and a very special kind of urban nature in a small area. This biodiversity, through the services it provides, is essential to the lives of city dwellers.
Towns and cities have been built on land that was previously occupied by natural or cultivated areas. People have shaped this land into a mosaic of built-up areas and green spaces, intersected by communication routes. In this way, they have exerted a strong influence, sometimes without realising it, on the biodiversity of urban areas.
We invite you to take part in a walking workshop to learn how to identify the plant species along the way and thus contribute to the inventory of urban plants in the Presqu'Île as part of the "Sauvages de ma rue" participatory research project. Initiated by the Tela Botanica association and the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle (MNHN) as part of the "Vigie nature" citizens' network, this programme aims to improve knowledge of urban biodiversity. Come and find out more about this participatory research programme, and why not contribute to it!
