To give the city centre a boost, Caen's shopkeepers, members of the Vitrines de Caen association, are offering a winter event open to all: a temporary ice rink set up in Place de la République. It will be open to the public from 14 to 21 February. Admission will be free on presentation of purchases made at partner retailers, or €2.
This festive week will be punctuated by two events.
On Friday 14 February, to celebrate Valentine's Day, visitors are invited to share a warm and fun moment on the ice.
On Wednesday 18 February, the Place de la République will be transformed for the "Caen, Ice Age" theme day. On the programme: activities on ice, fun installations, polar décor with igloo and giant bear, curling rink, mascots and penguins, for an immersive atmosphere designed for all the family.
