Every spring, cuttlefish return to our coasts. But what do we really know about this strange animal that can disappear in a cloud of ink? Much more than a simple mollusc cousin to the whelk, the cuttlefish has a fascinating intelligence and biology.
Researchers from the MERSEA laboratory (Marine Ecosystems and oRganisms reSEArch Lab) at the University of Caen-Normandie will be opening the doors to their research at the Caen Yacht Club's maritime café on Thursday 29 January. From its spectacular mating rituals to its mysterious end of life, discover how this cephalopod adapts to the challenges of tomorrow: climate change and human pressure. Dive into the secrets of an extraordinary local species with a presentation by Céline Zatylny-Gaudin, Professor of Marine Biology and Director of the MERSEA research laboratory. There will then be time for discussion with the participants in this maritime café.
The Caen Yacht Club Maritime Café will take place on Thursday 29 January 2026 from 7pm to 8.15pm at the Bassin Saint-Pierre, 2 Quai de la Londe, Caen. You will be asked to contribute €3, and a drink will follow the presentation.
