Bass Drum of Death in concert + La Dispatch

Bass Drum of Death go back to basics. From the pared-down title of their sixth album, SIX, to the way they write, the band are returning to the raw spirit of their early days, when their first two records were recorded entirely on GarageBand.

While this new album marks a return to their original recording method, it also introduces some notable changes. Rather than working alone on the demos, singer and guitarist John Barrett surrounded himself with the rest of the band - Jim Barrett on guitar and Ian Kirkpatrick on drums - for several sessions in his Nashville home studio, where the songs took shape.

La Dispatch, from Rouen, France, Hugo and Lucien come from two seemingly distinct worlds, one forging cold, hazy techno and the other dragging his guitars and synths through projects ranging from feverish post-punk to psychedelic outbursts.

On stage, the band deploys an arsenal of instruments: synths, guitar, bass, drum machine, vocals and effects all intermingle.

Somewhere between punk energy, new wave heritage and an obsession with rhythm, the music hits as hard as it moves.
