The Harmonie d?Hérouville has the immense pleasure of sharing the stage with an exceptional guest: the talented trombonist Nestor Welmane.
A native of Normandy, Nestor Welmane began playing the trombone at the Granville music school, before going on to pursue a brilliant career at the Conservatoire de Caen, then the Pôle Supérieur de Lille and finally the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris.
After joining the Orchestre de la Musique de l'Air et de l'Espace, he is now solo trombone with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
The program features Launy Grøndahl?s Trombone Concerto, in its transcription for wind orchestra: an emblematic work from the early 20th? century, a veritable symphony of color and expression, revealing all the nuances of the trombone - from the subtlest softness to the most dazzling power.
With his remarkable virtuosity and profound musicality, Nestor Welmane will bring out the full expressive richness of this piece.
Gustav Holst's First Suite for Wind Orchestra, another pillar of the repertoire, completes the program.
A veritable founding work of the wind band repertoire, it marked a major turning point in the history of wind music.
