“Lire la Normandie” – Premier salon des auteurs de Normandie

Norman authors talk about the place of Normandy in their novels and the process of writing with and through place.

François Kufs

François Kufs published his first novel Les Sanglots de la Liberté in 2020, in which he shares his passion for the Second World War. In 2021, with La Légende de Billy, he takes readers across the plains of the Far West on a perilous ride full of twists and turns. Volume 2, Demain à l?aube (Tomorrow at dawn), was published in 2022. The same year, he tried his hand at short stories with La fin va vous plaire, a collection of humorous stories with unexpected endings. Reyes, the final volume of La Légende de Billy, marks the final chapter in his "western" trilogy.

Emilie C.H

After growing up in the Paris region, Émilie C.H built her new life in Normandy. Writing has been her companion since childhood, but it was when she experienced a series of tragedies that her pen became her lifeline. A mother of three, a creative jack-of-all-trades and a passionate writer, Émilie lives life at a hundred miles an hour, never forgetting to enjoy every moment with her readers. Through each of her characters, she offers us an array of emotions. Without confining herself to a predefined genre, Émilie C.H delivers stories to live with, making us laugh, sometimes wringing a few tears and just as many shivers. She presents her novel Nos larmes salées.

Simonie

A former doctoral researcher, Simonie decided to give up everything to devote herself to two of her passions: writing and illustration. The result is Ramania: Rêverie à l?Académie de magie, a historical fantasy novel that takes readers on a journey from Brittany to Normandy to discover the history of these regions and their forgotten legends. To open up this universe to younger readers, three books for children followed: La licorne du Mont-Saint-Michel, La potion du dragon and Le glouton marin.

Claire Larquemain

Claire Larquemain was born at the end of a jetty on the Cotentin peninsula in the English Channel. A land at the end of the world, constantly in contact with the elements, churned by wind, sea spray and light. This is where she has anchored her life and her imagination. For fifteen years, she also worked to promote the area as a tourist destination, but at the same time, words have always been present. Discreet at first, kept to one side, scribbled in notebooks with no addressee. Then, in 2011, she walked through the door of a writing workshop. Momentum builds. Writing takes its place, imposing its themes: maternity, femininity, maritime heritage, the Manche region.

She published her first regional book, Road Trip sur le littoral du Cotentin (Éditions Nationale 13), followed by La Cabane, an intimate, poetic tale also set in the Manche region, published by Le Chat Polaire. Her writing is received as sensitive, poetic and deeply accessible. In 2022 and 2023, she turned to writing personal accounts, with Olympe, fille de la lune and Ils m?ont marié de force (City Éditions). Giving voice to women, their journeys and their courage, becomes as much a literary act as a political one. Never ceasing to weave her texts with the territory, she recently published Road Trip sur les plages du Débarquement (Editions Nationale 13). Today, she pursues this dual path: that of grounded, contemplative narratives and that of voices carried, transmitted and offered to the world. Always, with the same attention to others, and the same fidelity to the breath of the sea?

Daphné Milpiet

Daphné Milpiet is a novelist from Calvados. A teacher, she began writing to free her mind of all her intense thoughts and feelings. A real passion, she has already published three novels and participated in three collections of collective short stories. Her fresh style, with its short, punchy sentences, is tinged with corrosive black humor. Although her favorite theme is family relationships, in each of her stories she tackles the social failings that disgust her.

The meeting will be followed by a Norman aperitif. Books by the authors present will be available for purchase on the premises
