The Normandy Museum

Located within the walls of the Château de Caen, a medieval fortress founded by William the Conqueror, the Normandy Museum is a museum of history and society. Packed with significant archaeological and ethnographic collections, it offers the chance to discover the life of people in Normandy, from prehistory to the present day. Tours and activities are available all year round for groups, in the museum, the temporary exhibitions and the château. These tours can be self-guided, guided or with the help of a playbook. They are only accessible by booking via the museum's website. They last between 45 minutes and 2 hours, depending on the audience. Tailor-made tours can also be organised on request. The museum also offers tours adapted to different types of disability (visual, hearing, motor, mental), with the option of workshops led by professionals trained in welcoming these visitors. For your convenience, cloakrooms are available at the museum reception desk and in the château reception pavilion for you to leave your personal belongings.
