In 2027, the Normandy Region is organizing a major year of celebrations around Normandy’s thousand-year heritage and its influence in Europe.

In this context, Caen la mer will be one of the major hubs of this program, drawing on its history closely linked to that of William the Conqueror. The city of Caen, with iconic sites such as the Abbaye aux Hommes and the Abbaye aux Dames, still bears witness today to the importance of this period in Norman history.
Throughout the year, Caen la mer will offer events accessible to all to explore this history and its legacy. The aim is to show how the Normans have left their mark on many territories in Europe and to allow the public to better understand these connections.
This exceptional year, initiated by the Normandy Region, will also be an opportunity to develop exchanges with other European territories and to showcase a shared, millennia-old heritage, both local and international.

Programming coming soon.
