Why do we behave the way we do? Emotions: the invisible drivers of our actions

In children, they act as guides for exploring, avoiding danger or seeking comfort.

Emotions are not merely fleeting reactions: they are warning and motivational systems that guide behaviour, often unconsciously. Human behaviour, from early childhood onwards, is profoundly influenced by a complex network of biological, psychological and environmental factors. Emotions and attachment play a central role in how a child interacts with the world, builds relationships and develops behaviours. They influence one another and shape personality and behaviour.

Let’s talk about emotions and attachment with psychologist Ludimila Carmeille, a PhD student at the Centre for Research into Psychological Functioning and Dysfunction (CRFDP) in Rouen.
