Round-table discussion: the identity, function and role of Caen Castle since 1945

Jean-Marie Levesque, director of the Château, and Céline Ernaelsteen, a photography historian, are inviting artists and specialists to discuss the post-war transformation of the château.
The round-table discussion will highlight various aspects of the château’s evolution and its unique place within Caen’s urban, heritage and cultural landscape since the Second World War.
Several topics will be addressed:
-The Château, listed as a historic monument in 1945: protection, restoration and destruction
-A new complex housing two museums
-The integration of the Château into the urban landscape from 1945 onwards and its link with the new University of Caen
-The master plan for conservation and development
-The château under construction
-The château as seen by photographers since 1945
