At low tide, the beach of Lion-sur-Mer at the Falaises des Confessionnaux is home to a multitude of Jurassic fossils, as well as modern-day shellfish. Despite the 167 million years separating them, these animals have both similarities and differences. How is this possible? And why? This animation for young audiences offers a playful study of fossils and shells by children. Using the various specimens discovered, geologist Yohann Poprawski suggests naming the major families of living beings, observing their differences and similarities to arrive at a classification of living things, illustrating the principles of species evolution.
