Since the 19th century and the Countess of Ségur, children’s literature has been a genre in its own right. In the 1950s, it sought to reach a wider audience, including teenage girls. The five young girls whom Georges Gustave Toudouze set sail aboard the Aréthuse in 1954 would take with them, on a dozen or so adventures, a whole generation of readers of the ‘Bibliothèque Verte’ series. What is a ‘Poussière’ cocktail?
The ‘Poussière’ cocktail is a themed aperitif event: each time, we highlight an author, a movement, a publisher, a series, or some other selection from a particular category. Accompanied by a musical reading created by amavada, it’s an opportunity to admire books – whether beautiful, funny or surprising – and to listen to a short talk on a fascinating little corner of literature.
