A special, free opportunity to visit the underground ice house situated beneath Square Jeanine Boitard, on the corner of Rue d’Authie and Rue de Jersey in Caen.
Friday evening from 6.00 pm to 9.30 pm / Saturday from 1.30 pm to 7.30 pm
Access is limited to 20 or 25 minutes per person (depending on visitor numbers). Visitors descend into the ice house as others come back up, in accordance with the very strict capacity limits.

The staircase has around a hundred steps; it is lit and fitted with a handrail. The site is not accessible to wheelchair users. It is not recommended for infants.
It can be very damp inside and the temperature is 10°. Please bring warm clothing and comfortable shoes.
The queue in the square can be up to 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes long. It is best to visit during the Friday evening session or very early on Saturday afternoon.
