CLMH is offering a guided tour of the Langevin building, an iconic structure in the Grâce de Dieu neighbourhood of Caen, which is currently at the centre of an ambitious redevelopment project.
The tour will be led by La Soda and Erwan Bonduelle, the consortium of architects selected as part of the international ‘Quartiers de demain’ consultation to envision the future of this building.
Built against the backdrop of post-war reconstruction and urban development, the Langevin building bears witness to a significant period in the history of social housing. In response to contemporary challenges – the green transition, adapting housing, changing uses and quality of life – the redevelopment project aims to renew the building whilst enhancing its architectural and heritage qualities.
During this tour, participants will discover the project’s objectives, which aim to transform this 20th-century heritage site into a sustainable, attractive living space adapted to the needs of tomorrow.
A unique opportunity to understand how the architectural legacy of the post-war reconstruction can serve as a catalyst for shaping the city of tomorrow, whilst preserving the memory and identity of the neighbourhoods that make it up.
