The manor farms, one of the hallmarks of the villages of the Bessin region, have been restored to their unique style. There are no fewer than ten manor farms in the village. They all share the same features: a courtyard surrounded by the buildings necessary for running the farm, a dwelling for the inhabitants, the whole forming a self-contained, defensive complex. These manor farms were built by wealthy farmers or members of the minor nobility between the 16th and 17th centuries.
The Cacharat manor house, for instance, is a typical 17th-century manor, built by a wealthy Protestant peasant family (as evidenced by the graves within the estate). Although a simple manor farm, the buildings are imposing yet richly decorated and harmonious.
The majestic 17th-century triple gateway consists of two pedestrian gates, one of which has been blocked since the building’s construction. The central gate is the main entrance. All the gates are surmounted by imposing semi-circular pediments.
