The play “Family Matters”

This is a powerful and radical proposal that confronts us head-on with the state of the justice system in France and Europe on a deeply sensitive social issue: the family. Through the prism of law and legislation, Émilie Rousset takes a close look at the shortcomings and progress, the blind spots and the victories, at a time when child protection is a priority and family structures are evolving. In a dual-stage set enhanced by a screen, the performers share the testimonies gathered from specialist lawyers and those affected by the legal system. The experience is captivating thanks to a fast-paced editing style that draws us into the intricacies of the law, the intimacy of personal experiences and their profoundly political dimensions. A production that combines the raw power of a documentary with the breathless suspense of fiction.

The performance is naturally accessible to people who are visually impaired or blind. Running time: 2 hours 10 minutes.
Conceived, written and directed by Émilie Rousset, with Saadia Bentaieb, Antonia Buresi, Teresa Coutinho, Ruggero Franceschini, Emmanuelle Lafon, Núria Lloansi and Manuel Vallade.
