Performance: “Listening to Life”

If you just listen carefully, nature is constantly rustling with a thousand sounds, bearing witness to the teeming life that fills our gardens and forests. Animals, plants, minerals – each has its own language and its own vibrations. Passionate about audio-naturalism and drawing inspiration from the work of Marc Namblard, a specialist in the field, Juliette Lamour takes her audience on a journey through a short, interactive and dramatised talk aimed at children aged 8 and over. Through quizzes and participatory games, she invites the audience to engage playfully with our soundscapes and offers advice on broadening their auditory spectrum, understanding what we hear, and learning the basics of this discipline of observation through hearing. Learning to listen to the diversity of life in order to better preserve it.

Based on the eponymous lecture by Marc Namblard, published by Bayard in the ‘Les petites conférences’ collection. Adapted and performed by Juliette Lamour, co-directed by Elsa Delmas
